Job summary Product:
• Ensures Development is carried out in accordance with design and specification requirements as detailed by headquarters; ensures commercialization is carried out based on the confirmed product while adhering to costing and quality objectives and pre-determined production start time.
• Ensures that development and commercialization integrate the latest technical developments while maintaining an emphasis on performance and integrity.
• Is aware of brand mission, the importance of customer focus and global development direction (technical direction of product range); is aware of product history.
• Works with manufacturers and suppliers in continuous upgrades of technical applications and processes based on specifications and headquarter directions; works with manufacturers in continuous upgrades of development and commercialization facilities.
• Is an innovative source of ideas to development and design through working with related vendors and manufacturers; ensures development and implementation of new technology.
• Supports and implements global functional direction of development and product service functions (product testing, materials development, technical services and development initiatives).
Operations:
• Understands and able to work within development and commercialization timelines and procedures without compromising product quality and design integrity.
• Understands all development and commercialization policies.
• Ensures timely delivery of samples of highest standard at all stages of development (PPR, PFR, SMS and MCS).
• Has a good understanding of supplier timelines (eg.molds, lasts, components delivery) and instructs personnel to respect these delivery timelines.
• Contributes in strengthening relationship with manufacturers (T1) and suppliers (T2) to achieve the common objective on quality and delivery.
• Determines and integrates the best possible technical application for product without compromising on design specification and cost allowance (ie. Injected EVA, computer stitching, etc).
• Ensures all types of SMU request are handled with same thoroughness as with inline product and delivered as per SMU timelines.
• Works closely with Global Planning and participates in CPR (Critical Product Report) meeting conducted by planning to identify the potential problems that would hinder the commercialization & production process and offers appropriate actions, solutions.
• Ensures that commercialization trials (IES, FES and PT) are passed and confirmed on time.
• Ensures that product SOPs are available prior to production.
• Ensures the smooth product transfer from one stage to another within Development and Commercialization until production starts (eg. PPR to FLR to IES, etc) is in accordance with transfer policy and procedures. Ensures those dual source products are identical.
• Collaborates with costing, PCT and production to ensure products follow the development and commercialization directions.
• Collaborates with manufacturers (T1) on measurable KPI and ensures the target is met.
• Participates on Lean manufacturing training and applies at the sample room to improve product and process.
• Follows the direction of SEA team in terms of health and safety at the sample room.
• Communicates with TPC and KPC, OSC on any pending Equipment development issues.
• Works collaboratively and communicate well with an internationally diverse group of colleagues in the LO offices and in headquarters (HZ and PDX).
Personnel:
• Manages all development and commercialization personnel assigned to work within specified range. Assists in establishing career paths for key individuals.
• Assists Operations Manager in ensuring team is fully trained in procedures.
• Ensures the team participates in HPWT (High Performance Work Team) workshop offered by the office and other team.
• Encourages and promotes sport competence at all levels within factory and personnel; encourages participation in sports activities.
• Ensures the Mission Statement and Charter of footwear sourcing is communicated and explained.

PERSON REQUIREMENTS
Person specification • Preferably holds a degree in a post- secondary discipline (eg. Associate’s Degree, B.A etc.)
• At least five years experience working in the shoe industry in a technical capacity (strong understanding of footwear manufacturing including pattern-engineering, mold-making, grading, materials processing etc).
• Has some experience in personnel management.
• Fluent English (speaking, writing, reading)
• IT knowledge (basic office applications, competency in the use of PDM).
• Team work oriented.
• Willing to learn and take new challenges.
• Ability to work under high pressure (time, workload…)
